Comments: RD. I have been a viewer of your show for a while. I recently met you breifly at The Neebing. I live in Fort Frances. I love the outdoors as much as you. I am a police officer In Fort. If you are ever in the area and need a hand or want to go fishing...give me a call. Where did you get the camo for your truck?....If you have not figured out from my e-mail address....I might like hunting too. Thanks for your time.....Your show is great, Chuck.

Hey Chuck,

Glad you like my insane show... I think we have alot of the boys watching us. We get ALOT of email from Police officers from all over N America and right here at home too. Thanks, !

The camo is from www.over-wraps.com . They are a "product only" sponsor of ours. There are other companies that make the stuff too, like www.camoclad.com. They were a major sponsor of ours about five years ago in the US.

Next time you see me at the Neebing, come over and sit down!

Yours Ruggedly,

Comments: Hey RD, my name is Taylor and I'm from your hometown of Thunder Bay. I just saw your 30 min of bloopers on TV. It was very rugged. I hope I never see you doing another unrugged moment RD, it was funny though because you just added that part in the middle of a show. I really enjoyed your rugged drum solo, you are a very good drummer RD, I am a drummer myself and I'm really being inspired by your talent. Drummers are very rugged! I'm gonna give this rugged quiz a try and see what you think! Rugged 1. Watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs on a 15-inch portable tv on your pontoon boat, while fishing at the same time! 2. You fall out of a boat and get your only change of clothes soaked, but you keep on fishing anyways! 3. Catching a 20 pound Sturgeon with 8 pound line on your rod! 4. Catching a 8 pound walleye in late May in hail and snow-rain conditions and the temperature is just under zero degrees and your body is shivvering and your hands are almost numb! 5. You go to take a dump in the woods, but you then notce you didn't bring any toilet paper with you, so you use leaves from a tree as toilet paper! Unrugged 1. You wake up and see that there is a bit of frost on your window and go back to bed, instead of sucking it up and going to hunt for a 10pt buck. 2. Learning how to dance for your cousins wedding, instead of going out and fishing for lake trout on Lake Superior. 3. Going shopping for new clothes for your graduation, rather than going to The Tradgically Hip concert out by a water front where you could see them play in concert and do a bit of fishing while experiencing a rugged time. 4. You have a chance to have your birthday party anywhere you want, instead of going moose hunting you choose to go bowling with some friends. 5. You go on a fishing trip with your friends, you accidentally trip and fall on a rock and then see that you cut your leg on the rock, you start to cry and ask to go home, instead you could have been a man and sucked it up and went fishing and caught a 15 pound salmon with your friends. All these events in the Rugged and Unrugged quiz were all true stories from my friends and some people I've talked to before, you may notice that the rugged ones were all true stories that I was part of, the unrugged stories I avoided because I am Rugged! Hope you like this quiz RD and I hope to see you around Thunder Bay sometime again (maybe at the Blues Festival)Till then, take care RD!

Hi Taylor!

Well, THAT'S an email! I get alot of emails, but not too many that long!! Thanks dude!

I think beating the crap out of a set of drums is totally wicked! (Especially camo drums) Glad to hear from other drummers, especially from my home town... TBAY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I might try to use your quiz on a show, might have to "edit" it down a bit, HA! Funny stuff... If we use it, we'll let you know and we'll send you some stuff in the mail.

Thanks again and have a wicked - rugged summer!

Yours Ruggedly,

Hi Larry,

Thank you SO very much for your kind and very RUGGED offer to host RD for a
show. The problem is, frankly he gets about ten or twenty offers a week!
Yikes... we'll have to clone him, but I don't think the world is ready for that
yet.

He just sent out the newsletter last night and he rarely gets a chance to
read all the return emails, but I'll make sure he sees this one. (He doesn't
have a computer at home either.) He REALLY appreciates his viewers like you
wouldn't believe. Once, he said he wished he could go to everyone's house
and say thanks!

Have a great summer in Sioux Lookout. I think RD is going there this summer
to fly in somewhere so watch for his camo truck.

Thank you,

Rugged Staff

Hi Rugged Staff!

Just to let you know:  The hat has arrived and been exposed to ruggedness:  I was wearing it while my husband renewed his hunting license and got his bear tag for the spring black bear hunt and while I watched the "blooper" show this afternoon.  THAT'S a show that should come with a warning!

Cheers

For that I crowned myself as the "super rugged wife". Due to the weather we have yet to use the boat. Last week the most unrugged thing happened, some frigger stole the motor engine thingee from our boat. My husband is very disappointed and not so rugged at the moment because our many planned fishing trips for this spring/summer were stolen along with the motor. I am writing to you in hopes that you can grant me one wish. I want my husband to have at least one fishing trip this summer and I hope he can fish with you because he watches your show all the time. So if you need an entourage to carry your fishing rod, he is the man. I can't afford any financial contribution but I would like to barter a few hours of fishing in exchange for some egg rolls. I wish (and I'm NOT kidding) that I could take all my loyal and totally rugged viewers out fishing... but they'd have to clone me and I don't think that would go well... but maybe I'll see you and your hubbster out on the lake someday. Hope that little "frigger" will get caught by the cops and you'll get your motor engine thingee back for your boat!

And, I DO LOVE egg rolls. Once on a show, we were hunting for geese and when we were finished... we ordered Ling Lee Chinese Food and he came out.. what a riot! For a tip, I gave two ducks and two geese!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much for watching our insane show and say hi to hubby for me.

Im a 39 yr old rugged dude and will be making my first Rugged fishing adventure this June to Wilkie Lake in Ontario (Rusty Myers Outposts); we'll be fishing for rugged walleye and pike!! Any tips for me and my 6 rugged fishing buddies??? ps- Go Sens, from a lowly Blackhawks fan!! LOL Chris aka "Wrobes"

Hey Wrobes.... (What the hell kinda name is that anyway?) I bet there's a story to it...

Yes, you're right. We get quite a few emails from the windy city and I've used a few "Chicago" rugged quizes on the show before.

You're going to Rusty Myers? I'll be there in August to tape a musky show. The owner there, Steve Herbeck knows a hell of alot about fishing, so I'd give him a shout and he'll give ya the scoop on what too bring for walleyes and northerns. Some obvious stuff, I'd bring lots of bright colored jigs for sure, for the walleyes... crank baits too. Big pike in June? Probably spoons, BIG top waters... but check with Steve. Wire leaders at least 12 inches...

YAY........ Ottawa Senators!  They just might win the Stanley Cup this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I used to be a Leafs fan, but they got their asses kicked this year.

Have fun at the outpost in June... bring lots of food for those 6 dudes... and some sharp fillet knives... lots of walleyes up there! Go kick 'em in the ass!

Hi RD, The Rugged Dude,

My name is Ben Mackler and I am 5 years old and a big fan of your show.  I even have your magazine.  I love to hunt and fish.  Especially hunt.  The biggest fish that I have caught is a 5 pound pickerel.  On the weekend I watched you catch salmon on Lake Superior and I can't wait to see your show tonight!  I am sending you a picture of me playing hunting and one of me this penning weekend fishing from shore.  I'm a rugged dude too!

Thanks a million for watching the show... we'll get your pictures up on the site in a couple of weeks or so...

Hi my names Dani Drewek (No it ain't short for Danielle)
RD just wanted to say how much I love the show. I had met you the other day and I was just.. speechless, I can finallly tell and brag to everyone that I got to meet my Idol.

I got a little story that I am hella-proud-of that happened on May Long weekend. Me and my boyfriend were out with his friends Camping in Atikokan at Eva Lake and in the rain wind and snow we were still determined to go fishing. The first 5 minutes on the boat with my little Zebco fishing Rod, my green Jig Head and my bucket of Minners (Minnows). I caught the biggest fish I had ever caught in my life. Hell the dang thing almost ripped me outta the boat! At first I thought it was a Snag, but the best snag I ever pulled outta that water! It was a 20 lb Lake Trout!

That big ol fish had made my day, and all I could think of was I CAN'T WAIT TO TELL RD! haha
Just wanted to share that witha' yall!

P.S. I caught the biggest fish outta the hole weekend :)

-Dani

Hey Dani, (Not Danielle!)

Yes, I remember you... you are the rugged teenager chick who was wearing Carhart cover-alls at DNR Sporting Goods a few weeks back... that is RUGGED!

A twenty pound pound laker on a little Zebco fishing rod? WOW! And... minners? I caught a big laker on a jig and minnow once that was close to 20... but you "out-ruggeded" me on that one. Leave it to the girl to out-fish the TV guy AND - her boy friend! I know the weather was crap on our opener... you MUST be a hard-core angler!

Have a great summer and thanks again for watching the show... keep the Carharts on...

Yours Ruggedly,

I have watched your show for a while now and I really enjoy it and all of your little quips on the show.I thought I would send a quick letter to say how rugged I am.My wife and I are trying for another child. The first one is five and going fishing for the first time this year on his own.So anyhow I am watching your show and she comes out and says she is you know ready,I told her I was to busy watching your show at that special moment. Now if that isnt RUGGED then I don't know, maybe because I lve in a place called MOOSE JAW, SASKATCHEWAN,CANADA.I think it has a RUGGED name to it.Hope to hear from you soon your loyal veiwer CURTIS PRUDEN.

Hi Nas,

Tomorrow I'm leaving for ten days, and I really wanted to get back to you on
this one. It's very important.

The timing of your email is quite ironic... at this time, we're speaking to
some government safety agencies, Ministry of Transportation for one, and they
want me to be a spokesman for kid's safety, especially on ATVs.

Believe me or not, I don't think we have EVER had a complaint from a viewer
about me NOT wearing a life vest in the boat. At least, I've never heard of
it. However, over the last six months or so, I've been thinking and kind of
worrying about this issue alot, because we are now getting a HUGE number of
kids watching our show, especially down in the United States. Every public
appearance I make, whether it's a trade show, school, festival or store
appearance, there's always a pile of kids there to see me, and some are VERY
young (and impressionable.) When I started doing the show back in 2000, I
never thought I'd be a "role model" for anyone, especially kids. But, it has
happened... and it caught me off guard a bit.

So, as ironic as it sounds, the very same day you sent us this email,
(before I saw your email too) I had purchased a CO2 type inflatable
floatation vest that I will wear on EVERY show from here on in. Or, at least
I'll have a floater suit on, or an actual floatation vest that does not need
inflating.

So thanks for your input and tell everyone you know who watches my show,
that if they see me in a boat on the show without a vest on, it's an old
rerun from last season.

New shows - vest on!

Yours Ruggedly,

RD

Not a tropy, not that you would not have taken it if it came your way,I would have but it is good to see you are a down to earth true sportsman. The saying at the end was pricless as me 5 year old son laugh out loud with I's the bye who shoots the moose I's the bye who guts her. You are rugged great show.

Comments: Hey man, my family and I just watched your show for the first time. Thought it was great. We were a bit worried when you said you had gas though. Yes we watched the moose hunt in Newfoundland. We are from Nipissing Ontario, a little town near North Bay. We are all hunters in my family, the kids are both sending pictures of their trophys for the ruglet page. Once again, great show, we will keep an eye for it again. Thanks, Dave Paul

Hey Rugged Dude Dave!

Not sure if I answered this email yet or not... I get all screwed up with these sometimes.. but anyway, thanks for watching the show!! Glad you like it. We just try to make it a little different and hopefully get a few kids watching too.

I used to fish Calendar Bay during the winter, back when I lived in Collingwood... good walleyes back then. Please send in your kids pictures again, we had quite a few get deleted somehow... we want to really get the kids into the show and the outdoors. We'll put them up on the site in a few weeks or so under Little Rugglets section.

Thanks again...

Yours Ruggedly,

RD

Subject: cant find him

Hi RD, it's Denika Hoegler. Today started real good i went bear hunting with Dad. we were sitting for 1 hour when a big bear came only 7yards dad said from us but he saw us and took off before i could shoot. we went back in the afternoonand we were only sitting for 5 min when a real big brown bear came, i aimed real perfect on his chest just behind his shoulder and shot. dad said it looked like a real good shot. we heard him crash in a real thick creek bottom, waited an hour and went looking for him. dad looked for 3 hours but cant find him and there's know blood. dad said that somtimes it happen too the best hunters, but i feel real sad. did it ever happen to you.
not feeling rugged Denika.

Hi Denika,

I've been out of town alot lately... so I'm kind of behind answering some of these rugged emails.

Don't feel bad about the bear. It happens to all of us, especially in bow hunting! I am so proud of you for just being out hunting there in the first place!!

I shot a caribou with my bow in the Arctic about five years ago. The wind caught my arrow on a 35 yard shot and it hit far back... plus - I misjudged the range a bit too. I thought I lost him, but I found him an hour later.

Hang in there and keep on shootin' that rugged Renegade bow!

Yours Ruggedly,

RD

Subject: Rugged or not

Hi RD my name is Amber Caswell and im 16 years old and me and my dad love your show.My dad took me and my little brothers on a fishing trip to the Colorado River in Texas. I thought it would be rugged if I swallowed a minnow so I did and it went down easy later that day I caught a frog and thought it would be even more rugged if I swallowed it I washed it off and I stuck it in my mouth and it started to crawl out of my mouth so I slurped it back in and it was gone. My dad thought it rocked so I was wondering if it made me rugged or not.

your biggest fan
amber caswell
P.S me and my dad really want to be on your show.

Hey Amber!

Comments: My husband and I watch your show every sunday morning on the MOR channel. We get a couple laughs to start our rugged day.(chores we can't get our son to do cause he's got plans) Wanted to tell you about my rugged good luck. I was chossen for the Maine 2007 moosed hunt. This is my second time to be drawn,2003 I shoot my first big game animal what a rush. The most rugged rush of all was 2001 when my son Nicholas was drawn for the moose hunt,I was there to see him shot his first big game animal.800lb, 53 in. spread wall hanging moose. Also rugged but never topping my sons hunt my husband was drawn in 2004 and he shoot the smallest of the 3. That R.D. is what you call rugged luck. I'm going to let my father in law shot this one because he's never shot one before. The original plan was for my nephew to be my sub-permitte but he was also drawn so the only one left who hasn't got one is my father in law.

Hey Julie,

So cool to see more rugged women out there! Way to go... keep on it too! I've heard Maine has some HUGE ass moose! I hope your plans for this fall work out. You'll have to send us some pictures if your father in law nails one!

Oh, and don't forget... a warm gut pile - RUGGED!

Thanks for watching the show and say hi to the Maine gang for me...

Yours Ruggedly,

Dude, you are the man, because you are watching MY show!

I read your note and you want some info on maybe starting a show of your
own? Well, first, you have to be sort of nuts. Second, be prepared to starve
for a few years. Lots of Kraft Dinner and fried Spam... I had to set some
rabbit snares out behind the house. Anyway, it's a tough go, but don't let
anyone EVER tell you can't do something. If they do, tell them to kiss your
ass!

First thing you need to do is come with a concept and decide how you want
the show to look when it's done... content, style, whatever. Then, you need
to put together a pilot and then shop it around. Try to find some interest
from private investors because you'll need LOTS of cash to get going and you
WON'T get it from the bank.

Once you have money, probably at least a half million dollars, you'll need
to find air time somewhere. Contact the different channels that you watch at
home and they'll give the info on how to submit a show. Then, you need
sponsors... lots of them. Get on the phone and don't quit! You'll be a one man
show for a while, but in time, you'll get ahead and see some day light at
the end of the duck blind... good luck!!

Yours Ruggedly,

RD
